WHEN YOU EAT COULD AFFECT HOW WELL YOU SLEEP WHILE PREGNANT

Teoh Ai Ni |  Student, Doctor of Philosophy (Science)

Teoh Ai Ni, a PhD student from the Faculty of Applied Sciences, was selected by the American Society Nutrition (ASN) to present her research at the ASN Nutrition 2021 Live Online conference (ASN Nutrition 2021) on 7 – 10 June. Her research was selected by the committee from ASN Nutrition 2021 to be featured in the media. Her supervisor is Assistant Professor Dr Satvinder Kaur from the Faculty of Applied Sciences.

The title of her research presentation is “When you eat could affect how well you sleep while pregnant”.


ADVANCED INTO SEMI-FINALS OF THE 2021 SOCIETY OF ACTUARIES STUDENT RESEARCH CASE STUDY CHALLENGE

Lee Xue Er, Siew Chin Yoong, Chong Jia Wei, Jaclyn Loo Jieying and See Hui Xin |  Bachelor of Science (Honours) Actuarial Science

Congratulation to Actuarial Science students Lee Xue Er, Siew Chin Yoong, Chong Jia Wei, Jaclyn Loo Jieying and See Hui Xin for advancing into Semi-finals of the  2021 Society of Actuaries Student Research Case Study Challenge. Their mentor was Assistant Professor Jeff Lai.


TOP 15 FINALISTS OF THE 2021 YSN-ASM CHRYSALIS AWARD

They have been selected as the Top 15 Finalists of the 2021 YSN-ASM Chrysalis Award by the Academy of Sciences Malaysia (ASM) and the Young Scientists Network – ASM (YSN-ASM).


SECOND RUNNER-UP FOR THE ORAL PRESENTATION AWARD (POSTGRADUATE) IN THE UTAR INTERVARSITY SCIENCE SYMPOSIUM 2021 (UISS 2021)

Miss Sim Yan Yi |  Doctor of Philosophy (Science)

She was awarded the Second Runner-Up position the Oral Presentation Award (Postgraduate) in The UTAR Intervarsity Science Symposium 2021 (UISS 2021). Under the supervision of Associate Professor Dr Nyam Kar Lin, she presented her research entitled “Application of Hibiscus cannabinus L. KR9 (Kenaf) Leaves Extract As Skin Whitening and Anti-Aging Agents in Natural Cosmetic Prototype: Valorization of a by Product”.


WINNERS IN THE BLUESCOPE YOUNG ARCHITECT AWARDS 2020

JAROD YAP, STEPHANIE CHOO, TAN KAI XIN and LIEW EN YU |  School of Architecture and Built Environment

Congratulations to Jarod Yap, Stephanie Choo, Tan Kai Xin and Liew En Yu for emerging as winners in the BlueScope Young Architect Awards 2020. Jarod and Stephanie were the winners of Part 1 (Year 1-3). Kai Xin and En Yu were winners of the Consolation Category. These awards serve as a platform for young architects to showcase their talent in the field of architecture.


ASIAN YOUTH INNOVATION GOLD AWARD AT THE MALAYSIA TECHNOLOGY EXPO 2021

Miss Ong Khai Kee |  Bachelor of Pharmacy (Hons)

Bagged the Gold Award with her competition entry at the Asian Youth Innovation Awards under the Malaysian Technology Expo 2021. Her competition entry is the fabrication of Cocoa Butter base Amlodipine Besylate fast melt tablets.


DOUBLE VICTORY AT THE MALAYSIA TECHNOLOGY EXPO 2021

Ms Tan Lee Yang and Ms Yap Vi Lien |  Bachelor of Pharmacy (Hons)

 Won the Association of British Inventors & Innovators Award and the Asian Youth Innovation Gold Award at the Malaysian Technology Expo 2021. Their winning invention is an eye cream created with cucumber called CuberClear.


SILVER MEDALIST OF THE 31ST INTERNATIONAL INVENTION, INNOVATION, AND TECHNOLOGY EXHIBITION MALAYSIA

Ms Tan Lee Yang and Ms Yap Vi Lien |  Bachelor of Pharmacy (Hons)

Won the silver medal award for their product entry at the 31st International Invention, Innovation, and Technology 2020. Their product, TomaClear, is an anti-pigmentation cream which incorporates tomato seeds.

MARWAN ABDELMAHMOUD |  Doctor of Philosophy

And his team won the silver medal award for their product entry at the 31st International Invention, Innovation, and Technology 2020. Their product is Kollicoat MAE 100P Coated Capsules to Deliver the Cyclodextrin-Everolimus Inclusive Complex to Treat Colorectal Cancer.
