UCSI University gets affirmed by the UNU

UCSI University became the first private university in Malaysia to be recognised as a Regional Centre of Expertise (RCE) by the United Nations University (UNU) – the academic and research arm of the UN. Not long before, UCSI’s Sarawak campus distinguished itself as a regional leader in the promotion of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), a collection of 17 global goals that cover social and economic development issues. RCE status is conferred on universities that promote education for sustainable development through research and capacity development, generating impact at the local level to promote societal, economic and behavioural change.

UCSI University Welcomes welcomed Italian Ambassador to celebrate MY150RossiniCelebration

Hosting the My 150 Rossini Celebration – an event that marks the sesquicentennial year of Gioachino Rossini’s passing, UCSI University opens its doors to Cristiano Maggipinto, the Italian Ambassador as well as the prestigious Rossini Opera Festival of Pesaro and the Kuala Lumpur City Opera who had worked together to organise this spectacular celebration. UCSI University’s recital hall was filled with the melodious sounds of Italian Opera by amazing singers like the renowned soprano Aya Wakizono.

Professor Ooi among the World’s Top 1% of Reviewers

Professor Dr. Ooi Keng Boon who specialises in the Industrial Management and Information Systems has been awarded the 2018 Publons Peer Review Award in which he was listed among the World’s Top 1% of Reviewers in the field of 'Social Sciences, General'.  Publons awards the top 1 percent of active reviewers in different fields of scientific research for their contribution to scholarly peer review and the number of pre-publications review completed.

UCSI University ranked as Malaysia’s #1 Private University

UCSI University is now Malaysia’s top private university as it had beaten their peers by breaching the top 500 of the 2019 QS World University Rankings. Ranking proudly at the 481-spot in the world, UCSI University is now in the top two percent of all universities globally and it is the first time UCSI is featured in the QS World University Rankings.

UCSI ALUMNI MAKE FORBES LIST

UCSI alumni Lim Yuet Kim, Lee Swee Lin and Suzanne Ling are in the Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia 2018 list for their contributions to social entrepreneurship through The Picha Project – their startup that empowers refugees through food preparation and catering operations. The trio started operations in 2016 with zero capital while they were still studying. Today, they have served more than 52,000 meals to leading companies across Malaysia. 50% of all revenue is disbursed to the refugee families and more than RM600,000 has been given back to date. UCSI taught them for four years. They’ll go on to teach others for decades.

TOP 100 WORLDWIDE FOR PERFORMING ARTS

UCSI’s Institute of Music (Imus) made history when it was ranked as a top 100 university in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2018. Around 1,200 universities and institutes were evaluated in the discipline-based ranking and UCSI made the top 100 solely for its excellence in music, unlike other universities that also offer programmes in dance, drama, acting and theatre. The ranking also distinguishes UCSI as one of Asia’s top five institutions for music.

LIVE LECTURES WITH THE ROYAL COLLEGE OF PHYSICIANS EDINBURGH

UCSI medical students in Kuala Lumpur and Kuala Terengganu enjoy invaluable opportunities to connect with leading medical practitioners through live lectures with the Royal College of Physicians Edinburgh (RCPE). Organised regularly since 2014, UCSI students gained insights from leading academics, medical researchers and their overseas counterparts. UCSI’s commitment as a live streaming centre has also been recognised by the RCPE. The RCPE is one of three Royal College of Physicians in Britain that sets the specialty training standards for doctors and physicians.

UCSI Vice-Chancellor influences national code of conduct in research

UCSI Vice-Chancellor Senior Professor Dato’ Dr Khalid Yusoff, FASc has been recently appointed as the Chairman of the steering committee behind the Malaysian Code of Responsible Conduct in Research – a major initiative by the National Science Council to consolidate Malaysian research in the areas of integrity and accountability.

Senior Professor Khalid also stands out as the only member of the steering committee who helms a private institution.

New Learning Management System (LMS) CourseNetworking system

UCSI University is the first private university in Malaysia to adopt the new Learning Management System (LMS) CourseNetworking system. UCSI University is also the biggest CourseNetworking adopter in the country by student number. 

Other universities that have adopted the same system includes Singapore Nanyang Technological University, Thailand Chiang Mai University, United States Indiana University and California State University.

QS Asia University Rankings 2018

UCSI University is ranked as the 212th best university in the QS Asia University Rankings 2018. Breaking into the top 250 bracket for the first time, UCSI rose 131 spots in the competitive annual exercise that evaluates the best universities in Asia. The meteoric rise also cements UCSI's stature as the fastest rising university in Asia.
