Dr Rita Colwell is a world-renowned environmental microbiologist and scientific administrator. She was the first woman to serve as director of the US National Science Foundation.  A member of the US National Academy of Sciences, Dr Colwell received the National Medal of Science for her work in studying oceans' climate and human health.  

The world’s #1 tower runner Soh Wai Ching was at UCSI University again on 4 March 2023 at Block G, UCSI University KL Campus! And this time, with a bigger crowd to join the race.

42 senior citizens at the Tong Sim Senior Citizen Centre received free vision screening under the “One Hope Charity Vision Screening” event conducted by the School of Optometry Student Association. With the objective to increase awareness on eye health among the community, this event was made possible through the collaboration and Community Grant from the Association of Malaysian Optometrist (AMO). 

UCSI SHINE@Berjaya Times Square 2023 is a community-engaged, research-intensive, and industry-collaborative project that embraces its responsibility to positively contribute to the health and well-being of our local communities. This programme led by Dr Vaidehi Ulaganathan and Assistant Professor Dr Baskaran Gunasekaran, included over 100 students from the Faculty of Applied Sciences.

Congratulations to UCSI University Springhill for successfully signing the memorandum of understanding to form a collaborative partnership on research and innovation in the area of medicine and health sciences.

UCSI University’s International Institute for Science Diplomacy and Sustainability (IISDS) held its 2nd IISDS Invitational Lecture 2023 titled “The involvement of a scientist in science diplomacy” on 20 February 2023. Special Guest Speaker, Dato’ Dr Saw Leng Guan spoke about the essence of science diplomacy, as manifested in meetings of the UN and the work of such bodies like the IPBES. Distinguished Professor Tan Sri Dr Zakri Bin Abdul Hamid, FASc, the founding director of IISDS moderated the lecture session at UCSI University KL Campus.  

UCSI University welcomed our international and local partners for a series of conferences, interactive rapport-building activities, and a fun-filled appreciation dinner as part of the strategic initiatives to grow the UCSI Education Group and reach our 2025 goals together.

UCSI University welcomed President Kenshiro Matsunami and the esteemed delegation from Nippon Sport Science University, Japan to our Kuala Lumpur campus last weekend.

Both members of the universities discussed future collaborations to offer twinning programmes in sports science, which will potentially create a pathway for our students to seek employment in Japan.

YB Adam Adli, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Malaysia did a sharing of his personal journey and spoke on the theme of “Empowering Youth Through Leadership”. YB Adam Adli also officiated the launch of Youth Beyond Boundaries (YBB), a youth-led organisation run by scholars from UCSI University and UCSI College.

UCSI University is going transnational with the soft launch of its first international branch campus in Bangladesh. Named UCSI University Bangladesh, the new campus will be based in the capital city of Dhaka and operations will commence in May, this year. It is the first time UCSI is committing to a branch campus overseas. Higher Education Minister Dato’ Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said that the launch dovetailed well with the Ministry’s internationalisation plans.
